Renovation Updates
Vasa Star, August 2026
Greetings Vasa Siblings,
Thank you to everyone who sent items to the Grand Lodge Convention for the Vasa National Archive. We finally got it all put away and thank you’s sent out. Things are finally getting back to normal.
It was so good to get back in the basement and resume work on the remainder of the unprocessed collections. The remainder is mostly non-Vasa Order materials that have found their way into our collections. There is a significant portion of items consisting of individual’s research into various Swedish immigrants and communities. Hopefully, the remainder will be done in a year.
Upstairs we are working on getting the folders numbered. This is important for instances when a folder is removed from its box or misplaced.
Our next project is to split the large pdf files we have received from the microfilm digitization project into smaller files. This will make it quicker and easier to upload to the digital archive. It will make it easier for researchers to find materials they are looking for. And allow us to keep membership data private. The company that did the digitization put each microfilm on a single pdf instead of breaking the pdf’s up according to what books or membership cards were on the microfilm.
In Truth and Unity,
Kathy
