Greetings Vasa Sisters and Brothers,
This has been a productive summer. Back in late winter, we applied for a grant from the Geneseo Community Foundation and won a $2,000 grant to hire an intern to scan Grand Lodge Convention materials. Savannah Smith was hired as the summer intern. She was very quick to pick up on the task and to take pictures of the various pins, ribbons, and other memoriabilia. We now have Grand Lodge Convention books from 1901-2002 available online at www.umvphotoarchive.org.
We have finished our first pass through the VOA materials in our collection and have begun to organize our non-VOA materials. We’re currently working on the numerous files accumulated from our genealogical research and next we’ll be working on other subjects in our collections. These records are available for research.
We’re looking forward to a busy fall with Ag Days and Witches Night Out. Bishop Hill is usually beautiful in fall and we hope you can come visit the Vasa National Archive. Follow us on Facebook. Contact us at 309-927-3898 or VasaArchivist@gmail.com if you have any questions about our collections or events in Bishop Hill.
