Dear Vasa Sisters and Brothers,
Jake Gruel, a beloved and active member in District Lodge Lake Michigan No. 8, has a couple of pictures in the upcoming exhibit at the Vasa National Archive. Many of us remember Jake and Marge and their years of dedication to their local lodge and service to the District and Grand Lodge. In his personal life, Jake owned a print shop named JM Gruel Enterprises in Waukesha, WI. Jake was noted as being inventive and helpful to those who needed him.
Jake served on the VNA board and brought his creativity and helpfulness to good use. He took pictures from his trip to Sweden and had them printed on form core or MDF/particle board for a fundraiser for the archive. We still have some of his pictures for sale. But have decided to keep a couple of pictures permanently and they will be featured in the 2025-27 exhibit. Jake’s pictures feature different scenes of the Ätran River; one of a fly fisher in Falkenberg and the other of boats in Ulricehamn’s harbor.
Jake is not the only VOA member featured in the exhibit, and we hope you will find the time over the next few years to see what we have on display.
In Truth and Unity,
Kathy
