New Windows, Gutters and Ag Days

Greetings Vasa Sisters and Brothers,

It’s been a busy few weeks here at the Vasa National Archives. Thanks to a generous donation from Brahe #245, we were able to have new double pane windows installed. The windows block the transfer of heat and UV light. We’re trying to figure out how to reinstall the old blinds without compromising the warranty.

We had our gutters cleaned, reattached and new gutter guards installed. In one place the gutters were overflowing and the water was just hammering down on the window sill, which explains why that sill was so rotten.

We made butter this weekend for Jordbruksdagarna (Ag Days). We had 326 people stop by the booth and 165 of those made butter. We try to have two flavors of butter to choose from and this year we had salted and cinnamon ‘n sugar to choose from. Special thanks to Patty and Larry for minding the Vasa National Archives while Kathy was making butter in the park.

We’ll be working on getting several grants submitted in the coming months and ramping up for the village’s Julmarknad (Christmas Market) and Lucia celebrations.

If you have any questions, feel free to contact Kathy at VasaArchivist@gmail.com or 309-927-3898.

In Truth and Unity,

Kathy Cuff
